Until March 2017, my On30 home layout resided in approximately 385 square feet of climate controlled space. When we bought the house, my wife joked that we bought a "train room with a house built around it". Started in October of 2004, the railroad was running trains by Christmas and mostly completed about 4-years later. Since then I have re-constructed scenes and even tore out the city section, rebuilding it to include the Wharf module. However, as most model railroaders know, space is always a premium, and even in all that space I have taken to reclaim the area below the layout for a second, not connected, logging railroad. In March 2017 I began a conversion of my home layout from On30 (1:48) to G (1:24) - twice O-scale! See the Adventures in Large Scale Gallery page for more information. As the name implies, my railroad is Never Done, and Always Changing. This On30 layout no longer exists, with most buildings, rolling stock, etc. sold to finance my new 1:24 scale layout.
